Recommendations for US Foreign Policies Regarding Syria

:Recommendations for US:

:BIG NEWS:

The French foreign minister says his country and the UK will continue sending weapons to rebel armies fighting the Syrian government even if the European Union, an economic and political association of European countries, objects. EU countries, most notably Germany, are against arming the militants in Syria, since they the rebel armies have unclear and arguably more harmful ideologies and aims than the current president al-Assad does. Yet, Britain has persuaded the EU to agree to relax its embargo policies to allow non-lethal, but almost military needs such as body armor and armored vehicles to the armed opposition. According to director of Middle Easter Studies, Hisham Jaber in Beirut, the US, whose foreign politicians continually push towards more military and finical support, "do not realize that in the end of the day there is no military solution in Syria and also on the other hand and cannot convince their people that the weapons could go to the Al Qaeda", US worst enemy as FBI statistics. This is an very significant point, as for one, many of the rebel groups do not believe in US values and two, many of the rebel groups are linked to other terroristic organizations and carry intolerant ideologies. Additionally, Iran's deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs says that the Damascus government has complete control over Syria, and although the US and British backing of the militants, the rebels are not in command of even "one single small area" and are "taking their last breaths." Yet, the origin of this source, Iran's foreign minister, seems to be a limitation in accuracy since his purpose is to establish and keep a strong and powerful image of Iran.

In a meeting with Algeria's Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci in the capital city of Algiers, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian underlined the need for regional and international cooperation to put an immediate end to the violence and suffering in Syria. Stating, "like Algeria, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers political solutions and comprehensive dialogue as the sole path to resolve the Syrian crisis."

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Personally, I believe that the US has to work more cooperatively with nations like France and Britain, and even the EU to find better solutions to the Syrian conflict. Since military interventions and backing to the rebels seems not to be a good solution, due to the cost and the possible consequences like Al Qaeda support, humanitarian and political talks and sanctions should be seen as a solution. SHOUT OUT to US president Barack Obama: Please realize that military support and backing of rebels does not secure a more peaceful and democratic future for the Arabs, since, as seen often in history, revolutions often end in tragedy and counter-revolutions (e.g. French Revolution), so other methods must be applied.
