Syrias Business on Syria's Opposition
:BIG NEWS:
Syrian Rebels Demonstrating their power |
The Arab League (in Arabic لجامعة العربية), which is organization that consist of the independent Arab States of Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Saudi Arabia, has offered the Syrian opposition coalition the country's seat at the League of Arabs conferences. The Syrian National Council (in Arabic it is المجلس الوطني السوري in case you speak it) is a coalition of Syrian opposition groups regarding the government of Bashar al-Assad. The opposition groups are based in Istanbul and Turkey and formed a opposition coalition in 2011. Although this is on condition that it forms a representative council, it is a huge step to Syria's future as a more democratic and tolerant nation as the old oppressive state of al-Assad backs down.
The twenty-two-membered Arab League has suspended Syria's, or more specifically al-Assad's, membership in 2011 after the ruler's government did not abide by an Arab peace plan that aimed to end the appalling civil conflict.
Thousands have died already in the conflict and UN High Commissioner for Refugees Anationie Guterress states that "with a million people in flight, millions more displaced internally, and thousands of people continuing to cross the border every day, Syria is spiralling towards full-scale disaster [...] We are doing everything we can to help, but the international humanitarian response capacity is dangerously stretched. This tragedy has to be stopped." Although a limitation of statement is that UN Commissioner Guterress said it publicly and therefore purposely tries to persuade and sound positive to the public, this demonstrates the international pressure that is put on the oppressive al-Assad regime and the support the Syrian Nation Council gets regarding their rebel armies.

I really like the organization and visual appeal of your blog. I find the poll questions very interesting and ads a lot to the content. Content wise, I like that you gave me a little background information on Arab League and the Syrian National Council. I would like a little mor information on the conflict that you talk about. I appreciate you try to OPVL the High Commissioner's quote. Good Job! Make your blog in English!
